Fort George G. Meade is a major U.S. Army installation in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, occupying nearly 5,000 acres between Baltimore and Washington D.C. It is the fourth-largest employer of all Army installations in the United States and home to some of the nation's most critical defense and intelligence agencies, including the National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S.Cyber Command. The surrounding communities of Odenton, Severn, and Laurel offer a range of housing for military personnel, federal employees, and civilian commuters drawn by the area's central location and excellent highway access.
The surrounding communities offer a strong value proposition —newer suburban construction, low crime, highly rated Anne Arundel County schools, and excellent commuting access to both Baltimore and Washington. Odenton in particular has seen significant growth, anchored by the MARC train station that provides rail service in both directions.
