Lisa Velenovsky Hayashi
Lisa originally came to exclusive buyer agency as a result of her own client experience more than 13 years ago when relocating back to the DC area from Chicago. She had never before considered a career in real estate but had such a positive experience with an exclusive buyer’s agent that she decided to trade a career in developing education programs for a career in real estate with a focus on educating and advocating for buyers. It didn’t hurt that she had developed a fascination for houses after heading up the design and development of an award-winning educational CD-ROM game for students on building homes.
Licensed in Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland, Lisa loves helping people find their perfect home. Really, what’s not to love about a career that combines shopping, education and an important service to buyers? From an education perspective, Lisa just shifted her focus from designing serious games that simulated real-world experiences for students to helping clients make informed home-buying decisions in the real world.
Never one to shy away from trying new and completely unrelated career paths and knowing no other way than being “all in,” Lisa’s circuitous route to exclusive buyer agency has provided her with valuable knowledge and experiences that she applies every day to help buyer clients. From working as a paralegal specializing in securities law, to helping organize and manage a presidential inauguration on Capitol Hill, to managing corporate issues and media training for clients at one of the world’s largest PR agencies, to helping run a boutique education-focused Chicago consulting firm, to heading a non-profit animal rescue, Lisa has gathered a wealth of information that is surprisingly relevant to exclusive buyer agency.
Lisa is also a passionate animal rescue advocate, and has volunteered with non-profit King Street Cats, a no-kill, free-roaming cat orphanage located in the city of Alexandria since 2010. A native of Virginia and graduate of the University of Virginia, Lisa lives in the city of Alexandria with her husband and four (for now) cats.
