The Plains is a small town less than 300 residents, in Fauquier County Virginia off Route 66 about 45miles east of Washington DC. The town is accessed by car as there is no train service to the area.

The Plains is known for horse racing at Great Meadow, an open field area that attracts thousands of people to the steeplechase horse race on the first Saturday of May each year.
The downtown farmers market in The Plains is open Sundays from April to November and features local produce and crafts.
The Plains history
The Plains is in Fauquier County one of the less populated counties in Northern Virginia. The area has a rich history and best known for horse racing. The Plains is one of the fastest growing and highest income counties in the United States.

Each area is a "parent" element, neighborhoods belong to one and only one parent "area" - this allows your site visitors to view neighborhoods by featured areas.
