Crownsville and Cape St. Claire are located in Anne Arundel County, just north of Annapolis along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Cape St. Claire is a waterfront community situated on a peninsula between Dobbins Island Creek and the Magothy River, three miles west of the Bay Bridge. Crownsville is a quieter, more rural unincorporated community bordering both Anne Arundel County parkland and the grounds of the former Crownsville Hospital Center.

• Bay Bridge (William Preston Lane Jr. MemorialBridge): Bay Bridge info — The iconic twin spans connecting mainland Maryland to the Eastern Shore, visible from Cape St.Claire. The original span opened in 1952.
• Sandy Point State Park (nearby): Sandy Point SP — At the western approach to the Bay Bridge, this park preserves the launch site of the original Bay ferries that preceded the bridge.
